Frequently Asked Questions
-
For the safety and well-being of all dogs in our care, The Pet House requires dogs to be current on age-appropriate vaccinations and preventative care. These requirements help us maintain a healthy environment and allow us to take every reasonable precaution to protect all dogs in our care.
Required:
Rabies (as required by law)
DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza)
Bordetella
Canine Influenza
Dogs must be on year-round heartworm prevention
Dogs must be on routine flea and tick prevention
While we follow thorough cleaning protocols and enforce preventative requirements, exposure to common canine illnesses is still possible in any social setting. By enrolling in daycare/boarding, pet parents acknowledge that participation involves a shared environment and that no facility can guarantee complete prevention of illness.
Vaccination and preventative care records must be provided prior to attendance. If you have questions about your dog’s records or preventative schedule, our team is happy to help.
-
At The Pet House, your dog’s safety and well-being are our top priorities. While our playgroups are thoughtfully curated, we understand that dogs—like people—don’t always see eye to eye. Our team is trained to closely observe canine body language and behavior, allowing us to intervene early at the first sign of discomfort or overstimulation. If needed, dogs are calmly redirected or separated to prevent situations from escalating.
Because our environment is similar to a supervised daycare setting, minor disagreements can occasionally occur, but proactive supervision and thoughtful handling help ensure they are quickly and safely resolved.
-
Our space is intentionally designed with fully enclosed play areas to promote calm, focused play while helping limit the spread of illness. We maintain a rigorous daily cleaning and sanitization routine across all rooms, surfaces, and equipment consistently throughout the day. For the well-being of our community, we kindly ask that dogs showing signs of illness—such as coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, or warts—rest at home and inform us so we may take additional precautions.
-
At The Pet House, every dog is thoughtfully evaluated during their first day of daycare. Our team takes a gradual, individualized approach—carefully introducing each dog to the environment and to playgroups that best match their temperament, size, and energy level.
There is no set timeframe for this process. Some dogs settle in quickly, while others benefit from a slower, more gentle introduction. Once your dog has had time to adjust, we will go over the day’s report card with you at the time of pick up.

To ensure the health and safety of all feline guests, we require that cats staying with us are up to date on their core vaccinations. Cats must have current Rabies, FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia), and FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) vaccinations before their stay.
Vaccination records must be provided prior to check-in so we can verify they are current. If your cat has special medical needs or your veterinarian has recommended a modified vaccination schedule, please contact us ahead of time so we can discuss the best plan for your pet’s stay.
